Savannah was sired by the UK import NZ Ch Crookrise Sirius out of our Angie. Sirius came to New Zealand as a young dog from the UK but had been used by Cecily Robertshaw several times at stud before leaving the UK and he proved to be an influential sire on both sides of the world. Imported into New Zealand by John & Carol Craig & Helen McReady, he was not used widely at stud, but he did sire two out of the only four Grand CH.Pointers so far in the breed. Savannah was, and still is as a veteran, a big winner in the showring excelling in movement and body construction. She was the first, and until recently the only Grand Champion Pointer bitch in the country. To win this title she had to win three All Breeds CH. B.I.S. awards plus 50 challenge certificates. Mated to our import NZ Ch. Galema Kiowa of Crookrise (imp UK) she gave us Ch Porthcurno Cloud Dancer and mated to Jan James' import into Australia Aust Ch Vossmead Firecrest of Crookrise (imp UK) she gave us our young Porthcurno Rose Touch and also Porthcurno Soliel D'or. |
